Equipment
Even top
scooter and skate riders wear protective equipment.
I know
what you are thinking though. 'Am I still gonna look cool on my scooter
if I am wearing crash protection gear?'
The
simple answer YES! All the manufacturers want there wearers to look good
to sell more stuff.
This
equipment is color coordinated and trendy lookin.
Helmet
Stuff you head
in a good helmet. Use anything that looks good and meets your country's
standards.
Wrist
guards
When you fall
the bit that sticks out is your hands. A wrist guard will make it less
likely to sprain or snap a wrist.
Knee & elbow
If you are
intending to try advanced moves, consider these to give you confidence
and reduce the amount of blood spilt on the concrete.
Smashing up a knee or
elbow is a really bad idea!

Six safety steps
1) Check your
scooter before you ride it.
Make sure the locking
pins are in place for the handlebars. Check the folding mechanism is
locked up. Check the wheels and steering spin freely without
rattling.
2) Watch for
cars always check before leaping onto the road. Cars are hard to dent
with your head!
3) Don't ride
your scooter in any dumb places like busy shopping areas. Dropping in
from stairs onto a pram is not pleasant.
4) Ride with
care in the wet, your brakes will not work and the wheels will skid
easily.
5) Don't ride at
night without reflective clothing, scooters are harder to see than a
bike.
6) Know your
limits. Don't try advanced moves until you have the basics under
control. |
